CharlottesvilleFamily's ultimate Go-To Guide
cover & editorial design
Created in a combination of Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign, I utilized a wide skillset to breathe new life into this old publication shared in both print and digital formats.
CharlottesvilleFamily's titular publication, The Ultimate Go-To Guide, was still rocking design and layout from the early 2000's when I joined the company. I saw great potential in the annual publication, but it desperately needed a comprehensive redesign.

By this time, I had begun creating new style and branding guidelines for the organization as I worked on revamping their social media and web presence. I carefully selected new fonts, colors, and graphic styles to communicate a cohesive and modern look that still emanated a playful and youthful spirit that would resonate with our target audience of young families in the area.

Taking queue from the book's emphasis on day trips in Central Virginia and in keeping with the spirit of the original cover, I leaned into a vintage travel aesthetic; illustrating the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains in the vein of of an old postcard for the cover, designing the section covers into stamps, and creating the table of contents as a map.
From new in-house ads, to logo redesign for the Family Favorite Awards and editorial layout, The 2025 Ultimate Go-To Guide looks brand new while maintaining the quality of content that readers expect and love. We quickly reached record audiences that have translated into steady growth for each of CharlottesvilleFamily's projects.
While I spearheaded the design portion of the publication, I worked with one other designer and a team of authors and editors in order to bring CharlottesvilleFamily's 2025 Ultimate Go-To Guide to life.
